This year Kaveri signed up for softball.
We are so happy she came out of her
shell enough to give it a try.
She's really good and the
fastest girl on the team.
She loves it when her coaches tell her
teammates to run like Kaveri!
Shortly after the season started it became clear there were
a few girls who weren't actually interested in playing which lead to our
team being short on players.
Rather than forfeit Derek volunteered Kylie .
It only took one game and she was hooked.
A phone call to the coach the next day and she had herself
a jersey and a spot on the team.
The first season of softball is in the books and
we officially have 2 softball addicts!🥎🥎
Kaveri played 1st, 3rd, and short-stop.
She has a great throwing arm, shes good
with her glove and her coach said she has a 90%
batting average and
100% base stealing(never got tagged while stealing)🙌
Kylie started in center field but quickly
got bumped to second base and short-stop.
The coach walked up to us right before a game
and told her he was moving her to 2nd base.
She was SO nervous,like teary eyed nervous.
"Don't be nervous. I have to move you to second base.
You are the better glove and you can handle it!"
She got out there and did it.
95% batting average,
100% base stealing, and a curve ball throw.
When Kylie joined the team the coaches
would tease the girls on who was the fastest on
the team. When either would get
on base they would all yell "don't let
your sister be faster than you!"
It was great motivation and
a friendly sister competition.
During the play-off game Kaveri got an amazing hit.
She broke the ball stitches and knocked 3 girls home!
The coach threw her the ball and she signed/dated it!🧤
Also during the play-off game we had 2 injured girls.
The rule is if you play on the field you have to bat
but after you bat you can have a sub runner.
Kylie was the sub for both girls and scored over 6 runs in
one game!
At one point she was up to bat, stole bases until she made it home,
kept her helmet on and went straight to first base as a sub,
by the time she made it home again it was her turn to bat.
She loved every second!
They were bitten by the softball bug and we are
all love it.
Their self esteem is through the roof.
They had tons of softball hang outs and slumber parties.
There is a special season coming up
called 'fall ball'.
It's coach invite only and both girls were asked to play!
