Master Bedroom Make Over

We have a large bedroom.
It's actually a finished attic that has plenty of charm
with little nooks, tongue and groove
cedar wall planks and ceilings.
The room overall is roughly 25 x 16 feet not including the nooks.

When you walked up our stairs our bed was
right in the middle of the room.
Technically there was nothing wrong with our room
BUT the bearded man wanted a project.
To the far right of the room there was a
closet that measures 3.5 x 16 feet.

I've hated that tall dresser for the last several years but
who wants to carry that down 2 flights of stairs 😕
It's gone now!🙌
At one point behind these cute curtains was
a very organized craft storage space.
Then it became a catch all.
It started driving me crazy and I mentioned
to Derek I wanted to clean it out.
That's when he came up with the idea to
compact the whole closet into an antique
armoire and let him knock the closet out.
😲😲😲😲😲😲😲
Of course with almost all projects,
I drag me feet for it to start bc I
hate/fear the construction phase.
Well the clean out of the closet turned up much more
than just my crafty crap. Go figure.
We even found my wedding dress
and the mans military dress blues😍
Several trips to the trash,
a few memory filled storage bins in the attic storage,
and the rest carefully organized into the armoire,
and we had ourselves an empty closet!

He knocked out the walls on either side.
Underneath the walls the original floor was hiding.
Mid century gold glitter speckled starburst ✴✴
Pretty fun to see.

We decided to put the bed on the closet wall
but first he recessed the armoire into the wall.
He spray painted the inside one of my
favorite fun aqua colors.
You would not believe how much crafty
stuff is in here😳

Then the entire bedroom got a coat of
a beautiful creamy white.
🌸🌼Seriously loving my vintage flower rug🌼🌸

Then he moved the barn wood headboard
to the other wall and installed the new lights.

He also relocated the ceiling fans, relocated outlets,
installed recessed lights,
moved the cable line to the opposite side of the room,
built a recessed book case, and built all new banisters.
The man was busy!😅😅

Here are some bookcase progress pics.

Vintage laundry cart filled with
vintage linens😍
Derek also made me a barnwood ledge shelf
and I just super love it💝
Where the navy dresser is now is where
the bed was before.
Our bed is actually a cali-king turned sideways, (instead of long)
so before when you would come up the stairs
the corner of the bed was basically your
first sight.
Now it's so open!
The kids have had a few dance parties up there.
I love that the t.v is mounted and swivels
instead of sitting on the dresser.
We all ate dinner and watched a
movie last weekend
and it was fun😃

I honestly love it so much
and I can't wait to go upstairs
in the evenings.
I'm so thankful Derek insist
on doing projects that scare me 😆

Thanks babe, it looks amazing!

Happy Hanukkah 2019

8 nights of Hanukkah means
each person gets a night to
say the blessing and light the menorah🕎

 We made traditional Jewish donuts
called sufganiyah.
We made raspberry jelly and chocolate filled.

We of course had our hibachi dinner on Dec.25th
and then we headed to the theater for Frozen 2.

When it was Kylie's night to read and light the candles
we had guest over and she got so nervous about reading
in front of everyone that she had a few tears.
But, after a few deep breaths, some hugs
and encouragement she did it and was so happy.

This year Gabriella and Daniel really got into the
dreidel games.

So this was the first year we all had Hanukkah pjs.
It took me 5 stores to find everyone a pair in their size😅
I set the camera up, a book on top of a stool
on top of a kids size table and used the timer. Lol
It was quite the show.
After we took about 25 pictures I realized
the camera angle was too high😕
So then I messed with it for another 10 minutes.
Here's a few fun outtakes.

This year was one of the best Hanukkahs ever🔯🔯
We hung out a ton, cooked a lot of yummy food,
and played a lot of dreidel. Kirstin was
even with us the whole winter break😀

Hope you all had a happy holiday season💖
I can't believe it's 2020!
