Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today Derek is......34!
Yeah that's right, I said 34!

Kaveri has made sure he knows he is OLD.
By telling him repeatedly all week leading to today.
His hair and beard are filled with streaks of silver.
His body aches daily.
He wears reading glasses.

But no matter what his number is,
he'll always be my sweet boy.
Sound funny?
example: "what do you want for lunch sweet boy?"
his answer : "whatever your making"

He's a cutie.
His smile always makes me happy.
He gives me those eyes that are so sweet
I gotta get a kiss.
His hug is tight and secure.
He loves big.

The girls around this house are blessed.
Happy Birthday Babe!

Shutters Turned Shelves-Kitchen

Found some shutters on craiglist for $10 bucks.
Well here is four of them made into shelves in my kitchen.
They were white and connected so we took them apart, sanded them, filled the screw holes, spray painted them, and added the black iron L-brackets.

Made sure the tilt rod was on the bottom so the top surface is flat.

This is a REAL bird nest placed on top of a simple planter
with wooden eggs in it.

They are new so not yet filled up.LOL
But I have been waiting to display my old jars.

More shutter projects to come ;-)

Creativity

So this weekend during "calm down" time, we as a family watched
Bambi. An oldie but goodie :)
The movie is not made with all the technology we have today.
But there is this simple beauty about it.
Birth of animals. The seasons. Animals playing, courting,
protecting.

So that made me really think just how beautiful the world is.
God put alot of work into making our world.
All the amazing things and details.
All the things we see, and all the things we don't.
But there they are working in the order God chose for them.
Each animal and plant with its natural instincts.

11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so.
20And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly and swarm with living creatures, and let birds fly over the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.
24And God said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creeping things, and [wild] beasts of the earth according to their kinds. And it was so.
27So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.
-Genesis 1

That is some heavy duty creativity!
No one can compare.
(not even martha stewart!)

Psalms 104:24
O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.

I often thank the Lord for my creativity.
It is a blessing he has given to me.

3And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and ability, in understanding and intelligence, and in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, to devise skillful works
Exodus 31:3

We as parents, need to make sure that we teach our children
that beauty is not about the latest fashion trends, or
the hottest movies / music, but the REAL beauty is what God created and surrounds us. We take it for granted.

Look in your own yard

It's truly amazing!

Roasted Garlic

Ok, me and Derek love garlic.
And we want you to love it too ;-)
So first you peel almost all of the "garlic wrapper" off.
You leave some on to hold it together.
Then you cut the tops off, exposing the cloves.
Drizzle olive oil on them, coat well. salt and pepper them
and cover with foil.
350 degrees for about 25-35 minutes.
Spread right into some good bread while its still warm. Comes out like butter
but tastes better!
You can also pop out some cloves into a bowl.
Using a butter knife to lift them out is super easy.
Mix and mash with one softened stick of butter and set on wax paper
or plastic wrap.
Gently rubbing back and forth till you make a log form.
Twist ends and store in your fridge.Lasts a couple of weeks.
Or another favorite, mix and mash with some mayo
for garlic mayo:)
So good with hamburgers. Add some slices of avocado and
you got yourself a gourmet burger folks. YUM

Twine + Clips= Cute Frame

Derek made me the frame.
Spray painted it Robin's egg or something like that.
Added little loop hooks.
Tied twine.
Super cute frame that I can easily switch out the photos.
Bought a pack of plain clips at Michaels.
Used permanent double sided tape, some paper, buttons, pearls, and sea shells
to decorate the clips.

Cute and easy.....My favorite kinda craft:)

Me and Kirstin have a movie date today after running practice.
It's all she could talk about before school:)
Happy Thursday!
